George Mounteney - a literal transcription of his will, with illegibles omitted, reads:

In the name of God: Amen. I George Mounteney of the parish of St. Martins Leics. Gent. Being weak in body but of sound minde and memory doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament, as followeth.

Imprimis I bequeath my soul to God through my Redeemer Jesus Christ. And my body to ye Earth to be buryed according to the discretion of my Executrix in the hope of joyfull resurrection.

Item- as to my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to blesse me, I dispose thereof as followeth. I give to each of my five children twenty pounds apiece. And if my wife be now with child I give to each child she …….. withall twenty pounds.

(The) money I will to be payd to each of them shall accomplish the age of one and twenty years. And all the residue of my Goods and chattels I give to Sarah my beloved wife whom I make sole executrix of this my last will and testament; making withall this my last request to her that as God shall further enable her she would of her own motherly kindness make further (disposition?) of what I shall leave her and God shall blesse her withall to each of my children by equal portions. Witnesse my hand and seal this thirtieth Day of January 1676
